Hey there, and this is “How to model a LEGO® Brick In Blender”! Lets get started!

So, first off, press the ‘N’ key on your keyboard to open up a toolbar allowing you to add a background image.

Next, add the background image of choice for a drawing to go by, 😉 then, go and close the toolbar by pressing the ‘N’ key again, and go to the View Settings, select ‘Front’ view, or access by ‘Numpad 5’ and then select ‘Ortho’ view (Orthographic).

Next, press ‘Tab’ to go into Edit mode, and make sure the entire cube is selected, and press ‘X’ and click Vertices, this will delete all the vertices of the cube.

Now, go and and move your mouse over a corner of the cube, and do ‘Control + Left Click’, then, press ‘E’ to extrude, and extrude it along the outline of the brick (NOTE: Do not do the stud part of the brick yet.)  Rotate the vertices ‘R’ 90 degrees on the Z axis, bring the vertices to one side of the cube (Left or right if you want right look of brick), press ‘F’ to create a face, and extrude it on the Y axis.

Next, go down to the toolbar below the work area, and click ‘Face Select’, select the bottom face of the brick ONLY and click the ‘X’ key on your keyboard, now that part is completed, lets go to the stud.

Next, go to ‘Add’ then select ‘Mesh’, then select ‘Cylinder’, you can play around with the length and width of the stud. Next, select the stud and press ‘Tab’ to go into edit mode, select the bottom face of the “Stud”, and press ‘E’ to extrude it to bottom of Brick. After you have done that, with the bottom face of stud still selected, go and press ‘X’ then click ‘Faces’, to delete the bottom face of stud.

After that, check to make sure everything looks alright and went through smoothly, if you followed this tutorial, the bottom of the brick should look like this….

And the finished result!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! I worked hard on it, if you have any questions, please drop in a comment below, thanks!

If it is possible to create that tiny brick would it be possible to create EVERY brick in the entire LEGO. On that way would it get easier to create the game in a good qaulity. But who would ever do that for free?
